WEEK 1 

  • Introductions, syllabus, History of Management
  • Construct a 3 - 5 page paper on a historical person to the field of Management. Research their contributions to the field. In your conclusion, state why your opinion of their work and their importance. You may choose any of the people in the lecture notes, or you may choose someone NOT mentioned in the lecture.
  • Week 2 Assignment - Pick one issue dealing with diversity. Research the literature on the issue. Prepare a 3 - 5 page paper on the issue, the research, and in your conclusion, state the side of the issue that you favor and why you are on that side of the issue.

WEEK 3 - Servant Leadership 

  • Assignment - Choose a person you think is a great leader. What are the characteristics about that person that makes them a great leader. Do the same for a bad leader.

WEEK 4 - Entrepreneurship 

WEEK 5 

  • Assignment: Using your own organization, or one that you are familiar with. How can operations / production management create competitive advantage for the organization? What is the link between value chain, supply chain and operations success? Answer in a 3 - 5 page paper using APA formatting.

  • Ethics and Social Responsibility

    Organizational Culture, Motivation, Teams
  • Assignment - In approximately 2 - 4 pages examine and discuss the motivational factors that managers must be proficient with in order to accomplish the organization’s goals and objectives. Consider the following perspectives in your essay: Does motivation come from within a person, or is it a result of the situation? Explain cognitive evaluation theory. How applicable is it to management practice? What is the role of self-efficacy in goal setting? Identify the variables in expectancy theory.
